The annual Grantmakers Forum brings together philanthropy professionals and the staff of local nonprofits, and is a great example of how the Nonproft Alliance is helping to strengthen local nonprofit organizational capacity building. A panel of grantmakers review each grant application and choose recipients before an audience. Discussing the merits of each application and giving constructive suggestions for improved grantwriting provides a rich learning environment for nonprofit organizations.
The annual grants from the community endowment are granted through this process. JCF requests proposals (RFP) from local nonprofits in the spring. The RFP is announced in The Leader, Jefferson County’s community newspaper, through a nonprofit constant contacts email newsletter and on the website. Nonprofit organizations then request the guidelines which outline the timeline and process for submission and review.
