Jefferson Community Foundation


The Deb Johnson Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by Craig Johnson in memory of Deb’s contributions and commitment to education for young people in Jefferson County. The scholarship is awarded to students who are well-rounded, who participate in the community, who play varsity level sports and have a grade point of 2.5 or higher. The scholarship is available to both girls and boys in their junior or senior year of high school who plan to attend in-state public or private post-secondary schools. The Deb Johnson Endowed Scholarship Fund makes awards to students from Chimacum, Port Townsend, and  Quilcene as funds allow.


2016 Scholarship Winner: Kassie Olin


Kassie will be attending University of Washington in the fall. The Deb Johnson Scholarship is awarded to an individual who participates actively in their community and plays a varsity sport. In recommending Cassie for this scholarship, Scott Wilson, her basketball coach at Port Townsend High School said “I envision Cassie being successful in academics, in student leadership, in civic work and in her chosen profession, with more certainty than with any other student with whom I’ve had the pleasure of working these past many years.”


2015 Scholarship Winner: Jack Pokorny

Jack Pokorny -Deb JohnsonJack will be attending Western Washington University in the fall. He is a committed student who has participated in wrestling, soccer and sailing as well as many other outdoor pursuits while attending high school. “I have big aspirations and strongly desire a college education where I may be inspired and learn what I am really capable of. This scholarship will help make my dream of contributing to a healthier, sustainable world a reality.”



2015 Scholarship Winner: Jack Hilt

Jack Hilt-Deb Johnson copyJack is going to Bellingham Technical College in the fall where he plans to study Automotive Technology. Jack has been an honor roll student throughout high school and he played golf and soccer while a student at Chimacum High School and also enjoys snowboarding. “I am a very personable person. I find it easy to communicate my ideas and just talk to people in general. I consider myself a hard-working, people person!”



2015 Scholarship Winner: Ceare Williams

Ceare Williams - Deb Johnson (2)Ceare plans to attend Central Washington University in the fall. “I want to major in psychology because I have always wanted to help as many people as I can.” Ceare has been a cheerleader for 5 years and has a passion for dancing as well. “I am thankful for everything that has happened in my life because it has made me who I am today.”
